About SMTA

S. M. Tatsuguchi & Associates

S. M. Tatsuguchi & Associates (SMTA) was established in 1972 by S. M. Tatsuguchi. Following his passing in 2000, the business continued under the same guiding principles and high standards he instilled.

SMTA focuses on serving small businesses and individuals, providing consistent, reliable accounting support — not complex CPA-level services.

A Legacy of Standards

From the beginning, SMTA was built on a simple principle: do the work properly, thoroughly, and with discipline.

S. M. Tatsuguchi believed every business needs strong bookkeeping and accounting to succeed. He passed this belief on to his sons, teaching them to understand the importance of accurate financial records and consistent work habits.

Foundation of Discipline

Discipline has always been central to how SMTA operates. From a young age, training emphasized:

Consistency in every task
Attention to detail
Respect for process
Commitment to improvement

These values — including years of structured training such as martial arts — continue to influence the way work is performed today.

Our Approach

At SMTA, we focus on:

  • Completing work thoroughly
  • Maintaining accuracy
  • Providing consistent support
  • Building long-term client relationships

We believe strong bookkeeping and accounting are the foundation of a well-run business.
